A forearm lit from one side against a dark ground, carrying a single-needle botanical piece.

Fine line & micro-realism — Vyner Street, London

Small work that still reads in five years.

Two artists, one client at a time, by appointment. Every piece below is photographed again at least a year later — and you can flip the whole portfolio between the two.

The signature

Healed, not fresh.

Every tattoo portfolio on the internet is photographed the moment the piece is finished, when the lines are crispest and the skin is still flushed. For bold work that is a small exaggeration. For single-needle work it is a material one.

Fine lines soften. That is normal, and it is why we space lines the way we do. 10 of the 11 pieces in our portfolio carry a second photograph taken at least a year later, on the same body, by whoever tattooed it. One switch changes all of them at once.

What we do

  • Fine line

Single-needle line work, drawn at actual size before it goes near skin.

The house style. One needle, one pass, no shading unless the drawing asks for it. Everything is spaced with the healed version in mind rather than the photograph on the day, which is why our fresh work can look sparser than you expect.

  • Micro-realism

Greyscale stippling worked under magnification, one client a day.

Juno only. Greyscale, no colour, and nothing above about matchbox size where the detail stops being the point. Booked as two sittings by default because the skin stops taking ink cleanly long before the drawing is finished.

  • Script and lettering

Set by hand, never from a font menu, never below 4mm letter height.

We will draw the letterforms rather than typeset them, and we will refuse anything smaller than 4mm tall — under that the counters close up within two years and the word becomes a smudge. Bring the exact text, spelled the way you want it.

  • Botanical

Stems, seed heads and leaf studies drawn from the real plant.

Ana draws these from specimens rather than reference photographs, which is why they sit on the body properly instead of looking pasted on. Best on the shoulder, upper arm and the outside of the forearm.

How it goes

From email to healed.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

You send the idea, the placement and a rough size. We answer within three days — always, even when the answer is no.

  2. 02

    Consultation

Twenty minutes, in the studio or on a call. We talk about whether the placement will hold the drawing, and how big it needs to be to still read in ten years.

  3. 03

    Deposit and date

£50 secures the date and comes off the final price. It is not an extra charge. Move the appointment with 48 hours' notice and the deposit moves with it, once.

  4. 04

    Drawing

Drawn by hand at actual size on tracing paper, and sent to you before the day. Two rounds of changes are included, and nobody has ever annoyed us by asking for them.

  5. 05

    The session

Stencil goes on first and gets moved as many times as it takes. Nothing starts until you are happy with where it sits. You can stop at any point, for any reason.

  6. 06

    Healing and the touch-up

You leave with a printed sheet and a date six weeks out. The first touch-up is free, and on fine line we expect to see roughly one piece in five come back for one.

The room

One room, second floor, no waiting area.

Second floor, 18 Vyner Street, LondonE2 9DG. There is no phone in the studio and no walk-in hours — it is one room, and whoever is in it is tattooing.

Including if you are not sure yet. We would far rather spend twenty minutes talking you out of a placement than tattoo it and watch it close up.
